How to Find Cosmetology Courses Near You
posted by FindCollegeCards.comSometimes you may want to cut the crap and go straight to a school that is going to teach you all the basics that you need to know. Why go through 4 years of schooling, when you’re only going to learn a little bit about your major?
We all know that many colleges are money hungry and you have no choice but to take History when you’re majoring in accounting. This makes sense, right?
When you want to go to a skills based school such as a cosmetology school,, there are a few things that you’re going to want to look out for to ensure that you’re picking out the right courses for you. You don’t want to fall for a scam and be out of your hard worked money.
- #1 Talk with local salons: Before you even sign up for courses in your area, talk with salons in your area. Ask them who they recommend, as well as where they took their courses. You may find that many salons downplay a school, while others will highly recommend one.
- #2 Talk with at least 2-3 schools: Cosmetology schools are on every corner and don’t just sign up for the first course you see. They are a business too and they will do anything for you to sign that paper. Just tell them that you want to learn a little bit more about the school.
- #3 Get everything in writing: If you do find a school that you like, make sure you get everything finance related in writing. You may find that there are some scummy schools that want to throw in some hidden fees and other money related issues down the road. Know what you’re paying, so that you don’t get ripped off.
- #4 Read reviews online: You should find some reviews for cosmetology schools online. If not, you may find that the school isn’t fairly recognized. There will be negative reviews for just about everything online, so take it with a grain of salt. You don’t want to ignore it, but read why the student didn’t like it.
- #5 Make sure it meet standards: Most states have a state board that will have to meet guidelines. The last thing that you want to do is go through the school program and find out it doesn’t meet state guidelines. This will be a big waste of money. It’s also why you will want to research your school courses.
By following these steps, you’re going to find that you can find a rather good school in your area. This is a great alternative to take when you’re interested in taking cosmetology courses. As long as you do a little homework, you should be able to find a school that works best for you.
