Write them out – First of all, you should write out your top 5 college majors that you’re interested in.  Write these in a list from your #1 to the last one you’re almost sure that you won’t pursue.  This will give you a clear understanding of what you want.

Pros and cons – Now that you have a list, write out the pros and cons to each of these majors.  There are pros and cons to everything so this should be easy.  It may be that you don’t like the hours, but the pay is great, there are great benefits buts the major takes a few more years than the other ones.

Research – Researching is one of the most important things you can do.  You can find out what other people think of it, and what the job will really be like first hand.

Enjoyable – A job should never be considered a “job”.  A job should be thought of as something that you enjoy and don’t mind.  You’re going to school for all these years and spending all this money to get there, so it should be something that you will really enjoy doing.

Overall satisfaction - Once you decide on a major, you should feel like there is no doubt in your mind that this is the perfect job for you.  You should be happy with the wages, the hours, the job description, and it should be something you look forward to.
