When students go away to college it is like they are free.  Going away to them means no cur-fews, do what they want when they want, and having unlimited parties.  It is okay to have friends over your dorm for a party, but it is always more than that.  College parties are known for being loud, a lot of people, a lot of drinking and many other things.  There are many tips on being safe at college, you should check them out:

Limit yourself – If you’re going to drink, drink but don’t have too many.  Before the party starts make a limit for yourself when it comes to drinks.  You don’t want to be the one that every one’s talking about for drinking too much and having to be rushed to the hospital.

Always carry your drink – You want to make sure you never set your drink down.  Be sure that you’re always carrying it and it’s with you.  At parties, people like to put drugs and pills into others drinks.  You want to make sure that you’re always safe and no one is trying to poison/drug you up.  When students put pills in other peoples drinks it is usually so that they are knocked out and they can rape that person.  Always be careful of this issue!

Never mix – You want to make sure you don’t mix your prescription drugs with alcohol, this can be very dangerous.  If you are unsure and you’re on a prescription, read the bottle of your prescription. 

Vodka vs. Beer – You want to make sure you don’t ever mix these either.  Once you’ve started drinking one you won’t want to drink the other one after that.  This can get your sick, feeling horrible and ruin your night.

Always bring a friend – You want to make sure you always bring a friend with you to a party.  You want to do this because if something bad happens you have someone to look out for you.  When people drink, they tend to make poor choices.  Have one of you go sober and leave sober and the other drink if you must.  This way you guys can look out for each other.

Make sure you leave – Once you’re ready to go never go and lay down at the party.  You want to make sure you go home.  When you’re drunk and sleeping someone may try to take advantage of you.  Be sure that you’re always safe with a friend and you go home afterward.

Going to a college party can be very fun yet dangerous.  You want to make sure you make good choices and have a friend with you at all times.  Don’t become a statistic for something bad.  You’re in college, now is the time to shine and succeed with your goals!
