How to Avoid Getting a Bad Professor
posted by FindCollegeCards.com
What can really make or break a college semester is the professor. Of course there are other ways to enjoy a semester but one that can really ruin it is the professor. It always seems like there is that horrible professor for each subject taught at the college. They are picky with grading, are bad at presenting information and/or have a bad attitude when it comes to teaching.
How do we know if we’re going to get this professor? It is hard, often on the class schedules you get to choose from the names of the professors are not listed so it makes it impossible to know who you’re going to have. Although what you can do if they are listed is these few tricks below.
Ask around – Try to ask around and ask people around the campus. Lets say you’re in your English class and you have some people you talk to around you. Simply ask, “Hey have you had Biology yet?” If they have ask them if they liked their professor and who they had. Get a few different responses from the people in your classes that way you know who to avoid and who to get when it comes to choosing your professor.
Friends – If you really want an honest opinion ask your friends. Take the professors that your friends have like in the past. You and your friends will probably have the same taste and therefore you can really trust their opinion. Ask who they’ve like and who they’ve disliked and be sure to keep those names in mind.
Ratemyprofessor – There is a very helpful website if you’ve never been on it. It is Ratemyprofessor.com. Here, you will be able to type in any professors name and get a rating based on their past students. The students will tell you what they liked about them, what they really didn’t like and will mostly leave a comment on whether you should take the course with them or not.
If you really want to make your college semester enjoyable, it is hightly recommended that you consider these tips above. Make your college classes fly by with a nice professor, a good presenting one and one that really cares about how their students learn!
