Starting your freshman year of college can be very rough at first.  You start to realize that you’re an adult now, that you need to really focus on school, and that you’re in the “real world” now.  There are many adjustments you need to make when you’re starting your freshman year of college.  Everything is completely foreign to you and to help you adjust better there are many tips to consider.  Find out how you can adjust to college easier by reading below.

Knowing your surroundings – At first everything will be completely foreign to you.  You most likely won’t know anyone in your classes, the building will be brand new to you, and the homework and lectures will be quite a  bit different than when you were in high school.  Before you attend your first day of school get to know your surroundings.  Spend a day getting to know the campus, the library and where your classes are.  This will help you tremendously on the first day of school.

Join Clubs – If you aren’t employed during college you may want to consider joining a club at the college.  This will help you meet many great people and gain many friendships.  You will get to know the area better, spend more time doing what you’re interested in and make even more friends!

Family & Friends – Don’t forget about your family and friends when you’re in college.  Whether you’re away at college, moved into an apartment or live at home, keep a close relationship with the people you love.  Friends and family are very important and will get you through the hard times when you need them.

Don’t overdue it – College can be very stressful and if you have too much on your shoulders try eliminating certain things.  Whether you work too many hours, hang out with friends too often or you’re playing too many video games, cut back!  School always comes first and it is important that you do well in school.  Never stress yourself out, take a break once and a while and take time to relax.

Keep Motivation – Although college can seem awfully stressful, never give up!  You have to constantly remind yourself why you’re there and all the benefits you will receive when you graduate.  Never let your self give up and always keep motivation.

Everyone is different and the time it takes to adjust to college comes in all different time frames.  Just keep these tips in mind and continue to do the things you love.  Once you give it awhile it will feel just as comfortable as your senior year.
