In high school, we don’t seem to care about our grades as much as we do in college.  We don’t have to pay a certain amount of money each year, books are free of charge to us, and by senior year we just want to get done.  Although we don’t seem to care as much, we should.  What high school students don’t know is how important it is to do well in high school.  High school plays a huge role in college, and you’ll see why by reading below.

College – It is important that you get good grades in high school because you want to get into a good college.  If you have lower than a 2.7 usually, you’re slimming your chances for getting into a good college.  Do what you have to do, get good grades, and you’ll be thankful later when the time comes to go to a university.

Classes – Another reason why high school is important is because of certain classes you’ll have to take in college.  Lets say you’re not good at math, and in high school you only got to basic Algebra.  Now, in college you’ll have to start at basic Algebra again.  Instead, if you did really good in high school and made it to Statistics, you could be starting out at Statistics in college.  The better you do in high school the fewer classes you’ll have to take, and the less money you’ll have to spend.

Time -  The better you do in high school the earlier you get to graduate college.  For example, take the math example above.  If you do better in math in high school, the sooner you’ll be done with math in college.  This goes for every subject, and will allow you to get out earlier.

GPA – You want to get a good GPA in high school because if you can discipline yourself to do that, you can in college.  You want to be on the right path, take your grades seriously, and if you can do that in high school, you’ll be off to a better start in college, where it really matters.

As you can see, high school reflects college quite a bit.  If you take your high school years seriously, and do as best as you can, you’ll be off to a much better start than if you didn’t.  Try to take as high of level classes as you can in high school so that way you’re off to a good start in college, and you’re not starting from the bottom.
