How College Students Can Avoid Weight Gain
posted by FindCollegeCards.com
When going to college, students are often so caught up in homework, going to class and going to work. With such a busy schedule it is hard for them to find time to exercise and eat a well balanced diet. Students will often pick up a quick bit to eat on the way to class or in between class at a fast food joint. These bad habits start to take a damper on their health and tend to add some pounds to their figure. When in college it is still important to find time for your health. There are many ways students can avoid weight gain in college. Need some ideas or tips? Check out some things you can do to avoid gaining weight in college below:
Sports activity – Get some friends together and get involved in a sports activity. A good way to stay stress free in college is to get exercise. Not only are you getting rid or stress, you are also having fun with friends and burning some extra calories. Make it enjoyable by playing your favorite sports with your friends a couple times a week.
Fast food – When on the go students often grab a bite a fast food joint. Since they are inexpensive and fast, they seem very beneficial to college students. Don’t let those few points fool you. You are supposed to only have fast food a couple times a year. The foods that they serve are high in fat and calories. Don’t damage your health by getting fast food.
Park farther away from class – Parking further away from class is a great way to get out, enjoy the weather and burn some extra calories. You don’t need to park miles away, but the farther away the better!
Pack your own lunch – Do your grocery shopping at the beginning of every week so that you have food for the rest of the week. Packing your own lunch makes you aware of how many calories your consuming and gives you a better look at what you’re eating. Packing your lunch is often avoided because of laziness. It only takes a few minutes so put all your favorite foods together and make wise decisions.
Avoid vending machines – Students also tend to say “I don’t need a lunch I’ll just get a quick snack at the vending machine.” You are supposed to get a large amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet and by going to the vending machine you aren’t satisfying either of those categories. Instead of the vending machine pack your lunch. If you’re at school all day, one bag of chips isn’t going to fill you up. You are most likely to eat more since it didn’t fill you up and eat worse. Avoid vending machines as much as you can!
You don’t need to go to the gym to get in shape, there are many options. Don’t make eating healthy and getting exercise a chore. When you get both exercise and eat a healthy diet you feel much better about yourself. Getting vitamins and exercise are extremely important when going to college. Many students have a great amount of stress, and doing both things can help your body with that. Find a way that will work best for you!
