Getting Ready for College Your Junior Year of High School
posted by FindCollegeCards.comWhen we have set plans that we’re going to attend college, we all of a sudden get eager to learn about the college life, and the colleges out there. This is something that excites us, is foreign to us, and is somewhat stressful at the same time. Everyone always says, your junior year in high school is one of your most important years throughout high school? How come? How can you prepare for college your junior year in high school? Find out by reading below!
Pick a few – First of all, you’re going to want to think of a few colleges you’d be interested in. Write these down, and ask yourself why these college? Will you find the best education at these?
Test scores – Next, you’re probably getting ready for your SATs and ACTs. If you are, make sure you take these seriously. You want to do as good as you possibley can because colleges will be looking at these.
Counselor – Once you’re done with your testing, and you receive your results, go down to your counseling office. Tell them where you’re looking to go, let them see your test scores, ask for advice, and ask them if you have a good chance at getting in based on your scores. They will be able to give you a good idea at where you are, and what to do if you have any questions.
Research – Once you find a few colleges you like, research them. Make sure you like campus, and you hear more good things about the college than bad. Also, write down the pros and cons to the ones you’re looking at.
Visit – Once you’re serious about a college or two, visit it. It is much easier to picture what things will be like when you already know the area, and the atmosphere. This may actually help you make your decision.
College is supposed to be a time where we get our degree, learn responsibility, and a time we enjoy and make it memorable. You want to say that you enjoyed your college years, not hated them. Be sure to prepare as much as possible for the college world, and be sure to get help from your high school counselor. They will be your best friend around this time!
