When it’s time to go to a college, you’re going to find that it’s going to be more of a challenge than you thought it would be.  Like anything in life, you’re going to find that you’re going to want to get recommendations from others, before you set out and do something.  Since going to college is going to be a huge step in your life, here are some tips that you can follow to find the best college that suits you.

Get the US NEWS

The US NEWS magazine comes out with the best colleges every year.  This particular magazine is filled with tons of information regarding colleges around the globe.  You’ll get information on the hardest colleges to get into, how to choose the right school for you, schools that award the most needed based aid.  For under $20, you’re going to find that this is the best resource for all requirements needed in college.

Look around message boards online

I find that the Internet is a great resource for those that are looking to find reviews on just about anything online.  Whether you’re moving, and you need a moving truck, or you’re looking for a good college, there are a ton of great places that you can check to get advice about a particular college.  For example, CollegeConfidential is a great place to start, when looking to get information about bigger named colleges.

Ask students at the campus

If you have a few college ideas in mind, you may want to go to the actual campus, and ask the students directly.  You’ll find that most students will give you a great honest answer there.  Ask them what they like about it, and what they hate about it.  Jot down some notes, and compare them to other colleges that you have been to.  It’s always best to get information from at least three to five colleges.

Check out college resources

Just like the forums that I mentioned above, there are some of the great college recommendation sites that you should check out as well.  Some of these include sites like FastWeb.com, CollegeBoard.com, and ECampusTour.com.  ECampusTour is a cool site because you’re able to see the college with a 360 degree tour.  This is a great way to explore the campus online, but remember nothing beats seeing it in person.

Picking out a college is a long process, and don’t just rush into it.  Instead, sit back, do your homework, and find out what suits you the best.  Try some of these tips above, and hopefully you can find the right college for you.
