So for many new college students, making friends is something that can be hard. There are various clubs and sports teams that could make a difference in your social status at your new college. The main thing that really opens up these doors, is the idea of Greek Life! When I started as a freshman I rushed a fraternity in hopes of making new friends. Little did I know, I now have a big group of brothers.

Why Rush?

You might ask, “why do I want to be a jock fraternity brother or prissy sorority sister?” Well the answer to me is simple, because it gives you a chance to meet many people from different backgrounds and become extremely close to them. It is definitely a good idea to check out your campus’ rush week and meet all the people in the Greek system. The main reason you should rush is to say you’ve had the experience. Even if you do not join a fraternity or sorority, you will make new friends in the process.

Which chapter is right for me?

When you are looking into the chapters you have the possibility of rushing, the best bet is to find those who you have the best connection with. You will always have your superior athletic fraternity and even the cutest sorority on campus, but that doesn’t mean anything unless you are looking to be the best and not make lifelong friends. So when looking for your future brothers or sisters, take a chance to get to know as many of them as possible, and find out who you connect with.

The Bond of Brotherhood

The best thing you can ever feel after this experience is the bond you will now have with your new brothers or sisters. These people will be people that will stick with you through thick and thin and be there anytime you need them. Its not just all drinking and partying, but a group of friends. You will experience chances to help the community through fund raisers and even the chance to help campus by being the clean-up crew for campus events, and even helping the incoming student body. So take all these factors into account when trying to succeed in your social life at college, this will open all the doors you need.
