CollegeWhether you want to stay on campus, or you want to stay off campus, there are a few things that you have to look out for when you’re looking for student housing.  Since your choices are going to vary, depending on where you’re going to school, I wanted to give you a few pointers on how to find the perfect place.

Take a tour of the dorms

Before you even start your search off campus, get a tour of the college dorms before you decide against them.  There are a lot of great dorms, and set ups out there, when it comes to staying on campus.  Dorm rooms have their disadvantages, as well as advantages.  You’ll have to decide what’s best for you.

Search for an apartment near campus

Sites like Apartments.com will help you with your search when you’re looking for an apartment in your area.  The great thing about doing a search like this, is that you will be able to search for exactly what you want.  If you want 2 bedrooms, or 2 bathrooms, input it in, and see what shows up around campus.

Browse through Craigslist

If you don’t want an apartment, and you have some friends that want to be your roommates, you may want to look into finding a house to rent, instead of an apartment.  You’ll find that with Craigslist that you can search around your area, and find houses for rent.  Put in your price range, and how many bedrooms you want, and what kind of results you get.  Always make sure you look around the neighborhood as well, if you do decide you want to stay off campus.

Look for a roommate

Finding a roommate isn’t hard in this day, and age.  Check sites like Roommate.com, or even Craigslist, but make sure that you meet with them a few times, before you commit to staying with them.  You never know what you’re going to get yourself into, if you don’t do your research.
