Are you planning on going to college in the near future?  If so, you may of heard that you need to take the SAT test.  Often students are confused on everything that deals with the SAT test.  They want to know what it is, why it needs to be taken, what’s on it, and everything else under the sun.  To loose some of the confusion, you can find out everything you need to know about the SAT test below.

What is the SAT test? – The SAT test stands for scholastic aptitude test.  It is taken so colleges have a good idea where you’re at on an educational level.  After this test is completed you receive a certain number for your grade, colleges then can look over how well you did.  This gives colleges a good idea whether or not you are excepted.

What is on the SAT test? – During the 3 hours and 45 minutes it takes to take the SAT you are questioned on your math, reading, writing and experimental levels.  Note: Science is not included on this test.  For the math portion you will be graded on your arithmetic, algebra I and II and geometry.

How are you graded on the SAT test? - Your total score is out of 2,400 points, (3 scores of 200-800 for each).  You are also deducted 1/4 point per wrong answer, which makes things harder.  So if you have to guess try and pick the one that stands out the most and guess smart.

How do you score a high grade on the SAT test? – Ever hear the saying practice makes perfect?  Well that’s your answer.  There are many tests and books that you can study from.  You will want to study every day for at least 30 minutes.  Become familiar with how the SAT will run.  Study hard and watch your grade rise, that’s the only answer.  Check out these books, these will get you prepared, and will help you towards a higher score in no time!

How will the college find out my score? - Unlike the ACT these tests are submitted automatically.  So whether you have an exceptional grade or a very low grade the college will see it automatically.  This is the only down fall, the ACT lets you take it until you get a good grade and then you can submit it.

The SAT test sounds scary and confusing to all students at first but if you study some of the books ahead of time you will do just fine.  The biggest hint I can give you is to just familiarize yourself.  If you go in not knowing a thing you are going to do way worse than if you familiarize yourself and study before hand.  Just study, try your best and concentrate!  Good luck!
