Eating Healthy for Cheap in College

When we ask ourselves that, we think of things like fast food, ramen noodles, etc. Although they may be cheap, they definitely aren’t healthy and nutritious. It is very important that you get your vitamins and minerals, especially when in college. We are so busy, are usually stressed out, are low on sleep, and are staying up every minute we can to study. When we have busy schedules like that, our immune systems weaken tremendously, and need all the help they can get.
You CAN get groceries that are healthy, and cheap as well. If you consider a few of these groceries below, you’ll be off to a great start, won’t put a dent in your budget, and will improve your health!
Fruits – You definitely need fruits to go on with your day and to maintain good health. There are several cheap fruits out there that you should consider. Things like bananas, apples, melons, oranges, etc are all extremely cheap, and will give you that boost of energy you need.
Vegetables – You also can’t go without vegetables. Make a good salad, buy lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, spinach, broccoli, all of these for a cheap price as well!
Soups – We all have a favorite soup, and love eat it in the winter time. Look through your soup isle, find a few that you’d like, and check the nutrition facts to make sure it’s okay. Get ones with low sodium, high protein, and vitamins.
Lunch meat – If you get things like turkey, chicken, ham, and a low fat cheese, you will be getting your protein, and a great sub for a cheap price. Add a few vegetables and now you have a sub from Subway!
Dairy – Definitely consider things like yogurt, low fat milk, eggs, etc to get your vitamin D, calcium and protein. These things are a must, and will help you keep those strong bones!
Drinks – If you’re looking for healthy drinks for a cheap price, there is always water obviously which is one of the best things you can drink, propel if you like a little flavor without the calories, and a low sugar and calorie juice is always good.
If you consider a few of these cheap things, you’ll improve your healthy, your daily living, and you’ll add a lot of energy to your tired and worn out self. Take care of your self, eat healthy, and pay the low price.
