Emergencies happen sometimes at the worst times but you have to take them as they come. When you are away at college that is when it is rough because you usually are a ways from your parents or legal guardian. So there has to be ways to take care of those financial emergencies without giving up.

Emergency Credit Card – This is a wonderful idea especially when it comes to emergencies but you can only do so much with a credit card. Usually your parents only pick up the refillable type of credit card which means that there is only a specific amount available. This helps you keep on track with your financial budget without dealing with the excessive rates that some credit cards have.

Wire Money Transfer – This can be a convenient way to get money to you in a short amount of time as long as you have some identification and the code from the caring person that is wiring it to you. There is no fee on your part but there is a fee when the transfer is made. You can receive cash in your hand after filling out a form with your information and the personal code that the sender gave you. Wire transfers are as easy as using a credit card.

Pay Day Loan – If you have a job while you are attending college either at the college or in the city, you could go in and show them your bank statement and get a pay day loan to help you out with your financial bind. This option can back fire on you and make you pay for more than you want. There is a good chance that you are better off with making sure that you have an emergency credit card handy instead.

Savings account – Before thinking of college you could have opened up a savings account and put money in and let it build interest. That money could be used for an emergency such as one at college. This is a great way to have the money in your hand but there is a chance that there will be a fee for the transaction because your bank may not be in the area. So you will need to use a different bank or financial institutions ATM which can be pricey. But there is a chance that the money has restrictions.

With these options in mind you need to choose the best one that fits your situation. If you are lucky, your parent could come to your rescue. Just remember if that goes on you are in their debt. Sometimes that can be an interesting arrangement especially when you go home during break. You could be put to work doing manual labor or you may be told that you need to pick up a job to help pay for the bill of your financial mishap. The most convenient option would be a refillable credit card before you head off to college and you can even add some of your extra money when you get a chance to help you out with those financial burdens.
