Dating in general is hard but when you don’t have a car, it can be harder.  You don’t know if your date is going to think you’re a bum or he/she may just think you’re poor.  If you’re in college, you already have an advantage since most students don’t have a car since they stay on campus.  If this is you, you’re already on the right path.  If you and your date don’t have a car, here are some things you can do to make your date fun.

See what’s going on – If you’re on a big college campus, there’s always things to do!  Simply pick up a college newspaper or check online to see whats going on in your area.  If you’re near bars or there’s a play going on within walking distance, try to see if something like that would fit your needs.  Write down a few things you can do in your area.

Create a home experience – No matter where you’re living, you can make the entertainment happen at home.  If you both like video games, play some games for the night.  If you’re a movie buff, grab some popcorn and watch some movies.  There is so much you can do at home for a small price.  No one says you have to go out to have a fun time!

Go to a grassy area- Most colleges have a grassy area.  This is a great place to either have a picnic or even throw around a frisbee.  Think of fun things you can do.  If the weather isn’t so hot, try and think of other indoor alternatives like the ones mentioned above.  A picnic can pass a lot of time during a nice afternoon.

Have a group date – Do you have a friend that has a date as well?  If they have a car, you could simply hitch a ride with them and have a group date.  Once you have a car, your ideas are endless.  You can go out to eat, watch a movie, the mall.  The list could go on and on.

Borrow a car – If you don’t have a car and you really want one, you can always resort to borrowing one from a friend or relative.  In return, you can fill up their tank, offer to do some chores or even give them cash.  If all else fails, you can also resort to a taxi.  Make sure that you bring enough money for the fare though.  You don’t want to have your date pay for it because you forgot your credit card and money.

When it comes to dating without a car, be creative!  There are so many things you can do.  Depending on the season, you can do a lot outside or even indoors.   From a nice cup of tea at the local bookstore to a sandwich and drink on the campus lawn.  Explore some options and do what you’ll both enjoy.  Good luck!
