Creating Student Budget Worksheets
posted by FindCollegeCards.comCreating a budget in college is important, because you want to know where your money is going each, and every month. This is also a great habit to get into when it comes to life after college, because your budget is honestly never going to disappear, unless you don’t do one.
Creating a student worksheet isn’t hard at all. In fact, it will take a few minutes of your day, and as long as you commit, you’ll be able to see exactly where your money is going month, after month.
How to create a budget worksheet
How much are you making a month? The first thing that you want to look at is how much you’re going to bring in each, and every month. Do you have a job? Do you make any interest from investments? Every dollar that you’re earning, this should be put in at the top.
Write down your expenses – The next thing that you want to do is write down every expense that you have. From your cell phone bill, to your rent. If you know that you’re going to spend that money on that bill regardless, you’ll want to write it down.
Guess the other expenses - Expenses such as entertainment, and food can’t be exact, but this is when you should put down a estimate. If you think you’re going to spend $50 a week on food, write that down, and try to stick to it. You want to be realistic, because if you’re not, your budget may not work out for you.
Here’s an example of what your budget may look like to make it easier for you.
| Take home pay | $1,000 |
| Rent with roommates | $300 |
| Food | $250 |
| Entertainment | $200 |
| Cell Phone | $50 |
| Gas | $50 |
| Car Insurance | $150 |
| TOTAL | $0 |
