With college spring break coming up sooner than you think, you may want to know of some tips you can use in order to save money and still have a good time as a college student. We all know that college is expensive and there’s not much money left over but when all your friends are going out of town, you feel that you’re compelled to go as well.
Book as early as possible – Booking early is probably the best thing you can do when it comes down to finding your spring break package. The longer you wait, the more you’re going to pay and the less likely you’ll find a room. Generally, rooms fill up fast around spring break because you have to remember that you’re not the only one that’s looking to take a trip during the peak season.
Bring lots of people – The more people you bring, the less you’re going to have to pay. Sure, hotels will say you can only store up to 4 people but resorts with hundreds of rooms aren’t going to notice if you have 6 instead of 4. Just think about it, most of the time, you’re going to be outside at the beach or having fun anyways.
Drive and carpool- Driving is always the way to go and you’re going to save a lot along the way. If you have to, consider renting a van that fit 8-10 people and have everyone pitch in for gasoline. If you can, try and alternate drivers so that you don’t have to get a hotel room. Think about it this way. If you have to buy 8 airline tickets at $200 a piece, you’re spending $1,600. You can easily rent a van for $15-20/day and add in the gas at $50+ a fillup and you come no where near $1,600.
Try online deals – Before you book your trip, try finding great online deals on websites like TravelZoo. Websites like TravelZoo will point out the top 20 deals for the week. They will show you where you can go for the cheapest rate. You’ll be amazed at what kind of deals you can find on this website alone.
Bring food – Instead of going out and spending $20 for each meal you eat, try and bring your own food. Bring cheap food that can feed your group. If you need to, you can always stop at a local grocery store that’s located near your hotel room.
There are many ways you can save on spring break. It’s your job to be creative when it comes to saving on your trip. Vacations can add up but if you use some of the tips mentioned above, you can save a lot of money in the long run and you’ll be thanking yourself later for it.
