Stick together – When you go with your friends on a trip always stick together.  The worst thing you can do is leave each other alone.  Whether you’re going to the bathroom, in a store, to the vending machine downstairs in your hotel, always go with somebody.

Avoid clubs – Avoid places like clubs, and bars on spring break.  Those places are so crowded, so loud, and it is almost impossible to stick together with your friends the whole time.  Also, people like to put things in people’s drinks!  These places can be pretty dangerous so if you can, avoid them.  If you’re going to drink, simply drink at your hotel where you’re safe.

Cell phone – Always carry a cell phone on you at all times.  If you get stuck by yourself, get lost, etc you will at least have a phone to call your friends.

Strangers – Like always, never talk to strangers.  This is obvious, but really don’t, especially if you’re a girl.  Don’t get yourself into bad situations, and a way you can avoid those situations is by avoiding strangers.

Call – Make sure you call your parents everyday.  Just let them know where you are everyday, what you did during the day, and let them know you’re okay.  This way, if anything did happen they at least know where you’ve been.

If you travel abroad, make sure you purchase student travel medical insurance before entering a foreign country: it will cover any medical treatment expenses should a health issue arise during the trip

Spring break is meant to be a great time with your friends, and a memory you’ll never forget.  So take care of yourself, stick together with your friends, have a blast, and make good choices!  Safety is something we have to worry about everyday, but especially on spring break!
