Every college has requirements that all students must meet in order to become a part of their programs. Colleges have requirements for superstar athletics just like they do for any other student and it is very wise to make sure that you are meeting all these requirements.  Athletes get so involved with practice sessions and meeting the requirements that the coach puts on them to make the team that often they forget that the college also has requirements in order for them to become and remain a student.

Coaches really like it when their star players maintain a great GPA but too often athletics forget to study or find that they are too tired after practice to crack open the books. You need to make yourself very much aware of how your class schedule is being put together so that you do not over burden yourself with more of a class load than you can handle. It is wise to communicate early and often with your professors this will help you to maintain a good repose and gaining the support you need to keep that GPA in good status. You should ask ahead for your assignments especially if you know that you will be missing class because of an athletic event. This will show the teachers that you care about academics as well as your athletics and help you to gain support that you need in order to keep ahead.

You should show the teacher that you care by showing good classroom behavior. When you go to class sit near the front and pay attention. Do not hesitate to volunteer whenever your teacher asks for one. Know your classroom materials by keeping up with your studies and paying attention when the teacher is giving you a lecture. You might even want to record the session so you can review it later especially if you find that you are extremely tired and unable to focus. While you are in the classroom sit up straight do not slouch. This shows very bad habit and makes the instructor look at you in a negative instead of a positive manner. Use eye contact whenever possible while the teacher is talking. This lets your instructor know that you are paying attention.

The next good habit for you to have is not a requirement but it most certainly will help you at practice and in the classroom. You should watch your diet eating healthy snacks between classes helps to maintain your blood sugar level. You want to keep your athletic body and your academic brain at their very best all the time. You may not feel this is a requirement but it most certainly will help you to meet the other requirements presented to you as you progress through your studies.
