When looking to find what you want to do in life, it may seem like a challenge.  What you see as a challenge, I see as an opportunity to learn more about yourself.  If you’re one of the thousands of students out there that have no idea on what you want to do in life, don’t fret because you’re not the only one!  In order to hopefully get you back on the right track, I have provided a few questions you can ask yourself to see where you could possibly go for a career in the future.

What do you love?

Look at your hobbies and look at what you do for fun every day.  I don’t care what you do because I guarantee you can turn that hobby into a career.  Do you like to go out and shoot pool or drink with your friends?  Even if you do this, you could be fit for a bartender.  You don’t have to think that you need to be Doctor to be successful in life because you don’t.  Would you rather have a fun job and make enough to live a comfortable life or would you rather be rich and hate your job?

What are your talents?

Everyone has a talent and I don’t care who you are.  You may already know you have one or you may already know what you have.  Can you turn that talent into a career?  If so, look at all the opportunities out there that you can turn your talent into a job.  If you’re good at lifting weights and nutrition, why not think about becoming a personal trainer, etc?

Do you want to work with people?

Are you a people person?  If you are, you will want to work with people.  Generally, sales people have to deal with the public but if you are good enough, you can make a lot of cash.  If you don’t like dealing with the public in general, you may want a desk job.  Most jobs out there require you to deal with people but there are some exceptions to that rule.

How important is money?

I already touched on this a little bit above but does money matter a lot to you or do you just want to love you job and make enough to get by?  This makes the world of a difference because as I mentioned before, if you like serving drinks, you may not make as much as a doctor.  You may find that you hate being a doctor but love being a bartender.  If money is your motive, you may want to go for a higher paying profession but beware; you may find out that you hate it down the road.

If money wasn’t an option…

You will see this question a lot of quizzes.  Let’s say I gave you an endless pile of money.  What would you do in your free time?  Look at your hobbies once again or think of what you would do.  Would you open up a business?  Get a job somewhere for fun?  You can always turn that dream into a reality.  Remember, money isn’t everything!

Finding the perfect college major can be challenging for some.  Make sure that you look at all the opportunities and take as many quizzes as you can to learn about yourself.  The only way you’ll ever know if you like your career is simply by working the field.
