So, you want to sign up for college, but you’re unsure of when you need to get your applications in.  Well, each and every college is going to be different, so I can’t really give you the deadline for each and every college.  That would just take ages.

What you’re going to find is that each and every college and university is generally going to fall around the same time.  Most colleges are going to want their applications by at least mid February.  Again, this can vary, depending on who you want to send an application to.

How can I find out the exact application deadline?

  • Go to the website: I would start by heading to the official website, or if you wish, you could Google something such as, “XYZ College Application Deadline.”
  • Call up the college: To play it safe, you can always call the admission’s office.  They would be able to give you an exact date as well.
  • Look at the application: The application itself may have the deadline right on there.  Keep in mind that if you’re late, you may have to pay a late fee, or they may not accept it at all.

Now, there are a few types of different deadlines that you’re going to find that you may run across.

Early deadlines: These deadlines are for those that are set in stone on which college that they want to attend.  Colleges love the people that make up their mind fast.  You will be safe to get your application in by early November.

The regular deadline: For everyone else, many people are going to need time to decide.  Most colleges are going to want your application by January – February.

Transfer deadline: If, by chance you’re applying and you want to transfer from another college, you can generally apply rather late.  Most colleges are going to want transfers to apply by May.

How can I apply?

In this technological era, you’re going to find that, unlike the older days, you can now apply online, which many colleges want you to do.  Not only are the colleges going to get your information faster, it’s going to beat the snail mail method.  This way, you’re not going to have to worry about your application getting lost.

Again, you can find the application deadlines by following the points above.  99.9% of the time, these points are going to work for you.
