College admission tipsWhen you’re ready to start filling out college applications, there are some things that you should know about before you send that application into the college.  I came up with a few tips that will hopefully increase your chances of getting into the college of your choice.

Always start early:  The earlier you can start with your admission process, the better off you’re going to be.  Never ever start your application late because you’re just going to make your chances worse.

Get counseling:  If you’re unsure of where you want to apply or you’re simply confused, talk with a counselor either at your high school or current college.  They will be more than willing to help but make sure you set up an appointment early because it takes a while to get in to speak with a counselor at any school.

Have a list:  Never apply for a college and expect the best.  Instead, think of at least 5 colleges so if one goes sour, you can always rely on the other four.  If you just have one on the list and that falls through, what are you going to do?

Have someone look at your application:  When you’re read to turn in your application, make sure you let someone like your friends or family look at it.  The more eyes you have, the less likely you’re going to have mistakes.

Know the deadlines:  When applying, make sure that you know of the deadlines.  You won’t want to apply late because it’s going to make you look bad and the college isn’t’ going to accept it.  This is why you should always apply early.

Know how to write an essay:  When applying for a college, most of them are going to make you write an essay in order to get in.  If you know how to write one, that’s great but if you don’t, you may want to find help.

Follow up with the college:  When you finally send in your application, make sure that you find out if the college got your application okay.  This is a time to ask what the usually process is and ask them how long it generally takes to get approved.

When applying for college, these are a few tips that you can use in order to make sure your process goes smoothly.  As long as you have a back-up plan for other colleges, your search should be perfectly executed.
