If you’re a college student that is excited about the Christmas holiday, what better way is there to celebrate than to decorate your dorm room for Christmas?  Christmas is known as the favorite holiday and is a great way to spend time with family, celebrate the holidays and seasons, and celebrate school being done for the semester!  If you’re really in the Christmas spirit and want ways to decorate your dorm room, continue to read below!

Mini Christmas Tree - Of course, you can’t celebrate Christmas without a Christmas tree.  Simply get a Christmas tree, some Christmas lights, and some ornaments and you’ll already be on your way for a Christmas themed dorm room.

Christmas Lights - Get some Christmas lights to put around your dorm room.  You can make your dorm room really neat by outlining your room with the lights.  At night the lights will create an awesome Christmas theme.

Door - If you really want to show your Christmas spirit, decorate your dorm room’s door!  Get some paper just like in your earlier years of school and decorate.  Have a contest down your hallway and see who can come up with the best dorm room door.  Get a wreath, some large paper, and create a Christmas theme.

Chains - Remember making paper chains when you were little?  Get some friends together and make snow flake chains.  Simply hang them around the dorm, and place them in the ceiling tiles.

Garland - Hang garland around the windows and wrap several strands of Christmas lights through the garland.

Mistletoe - Don’t forget the mistletoe! Hang it right inside the room, over the doorway.

If you make sure you add these few little items, you’ll have your dorm room looking great for Christmas.  This is always fun to do with your friends and a great way to spread the holiday spirit with others around you!

Halloween is just around the corner, are you ready for it?  In college students are always looking for fun things to do.  If you’re having a college dorm room party this year for Halloween make sure your dorm is Halloween proof!  Liven up the party and add your own decorations for a Halloween theme.  Need some fun decorating ideas?  Check out the list below.

Party decorations - First start off with getting some streamers that are black and orange and some balloons.  You can get a lot of fun ideas just from going to you local party store.  You can hang streamers, get some balloons, and get some banners.  This will add to the Halloween theme greatly!

Silverware and dishes - Another fun idea is to get all Halloween party cups, and dishes that are Halloween colors.  Just think of all the utensils you’ll be using and exchange them for the Halloween theme.

Dessert - Plan on having some kind of dessert?  If so let it resemble Halloween.  There are a ton of fun ideas you can do from making a cake shaped as a bat, cup cakes that are shaped as pumpkins or just anything you can think of for Halloween.  Also add some fun colors with frosting and sprinkles!

Music - You can’t create a Halloween theme without music!  Make the party more fun and add some of your own music.

Movies - Is the party starting to get a little dull?  Throw in one of your favorite Halloween movies.  A movie will settle down the crowd and give the people something to do if it gets a little dull.

Costumes - Now for the ultimate piece.  Everyone needs to dress in a costume to get in.  Dressing up in a costume is always fun and gives the Halloween theme a lot more energy.

It is always fun to get some friends together for a party.  Holidays are a great excuse to hang out with friends and family and have fun.  Decorate your college dorm room with these ideas and be the party everyone talks about!

Having a dorm refrigerator should be a must when you move into your dorm room.  Keeping things cool from drinks to leftovers, it’s hard to live without one.  This is why today, I’m going to show you the top three refrigerators on the market that you can use for your dorm room.  First things are first though, we want to look at a few things before you go out and purchase that first refrigerator for your dorm.

  • Size- Make sure that when you’re looking at a refrigerator, you’re looking at the size.  You’re going to want one that doesn’t take up a lot of space but gets the job done right.
  • The Price Tag - This refrigerator is most likely going to be used for a few years, so don’t go out and buy one for over $1,000.  Keep it simple and try to stay cheap.  If you have a roommate, try and get him/her to help pitch in.
  • Keep it simple - Some refrigerators get pretty complex.  Try and keep it simple and get one that simple keeps things cold, this will be more than enough!

Now, I did a little research on some review sites and here’s what I came up with when it came down to the top three dorm refrigerators on the market –

Haier HNSB02 1.7 Cu-Ft. - $100 or less

This compact sized refrigerator is everything a college student needs.  Enough to fit a few drinks and leftovers in and it’s great for the value!  It includes a slide out wire shelf, a half-width freezer compartment, and 7 setting adjustable thermostat.

Compact Freezer - Stainless Steel - $100-$200

If you’re looking for a refrigerator that has a little bit more “class” and style, you may want to look into this compact fridge.  From it’s stainless steel features to it’s door lock, this luxury fridge may seem expensive but it really isn’t.  You can find one of these for less than $200!

Sanyo 3.6 Cubic Foot Refrigerator - $150-$250

This Sanyo will cost you the most money out of the three but if you look at it’s features, you may want to spend the extra money to get one.  The Sanyo has 3 interior and 3 door shelves, a crisper, and a full-wide freezer!  It’s a full blown fridge shrunk into a smaller size.  You can choose from white or black.

There are hundreds of dorm refrigerators on the market, just do your research and make sure it’s something that will fit in your dorm room.  It’s always best to check it out in person and then proceed to purchase it online since you can get a better price.  Keep in mind that when you’re done with your college years, you can always sell it on Ebay and get most of your money back!

Going away to college can be a very frightening feeling when you first leave.  Your surroundings will be totally new, and you will have to meet all new people.  To make going away to college easier to adjust students often like to decorate their dorm rooms like their room at their house.  Here are some fun things you can do to make your dorm room more comfortable and home like.

Color - Make your dorm room colorful.  The last thing you want to come back to are white brick walls.  If you’re not allowed to paint try getting art pictures or picture frames with pictures of your family and friends to put on your wall.  Add some life to the room by pictures and color!

Furniture - Get a couple nice pieces of furniture to add to the room.  Whether you put a nice little desk up, a bookshelf or even an night stand.  Any type of furniture can make a room look even more like a home.

Lighting- This is one of the best things you can do when it comes to decorating your room.  Small standing lamps or table lamps work great.  It’s a nice way of bringing light to the room!

Plants - Any type of plant or flowers are great for a dorm room.  They add more life to the room and really add a nice touch.  Whether you set them on a table or put them in the corner it will look great!

Bedding - You can make your dorm room look great by a nice comforter, and some decorative pillows.  Get some nice colors and make your dorm room look even nicer.

There are many things you can do to make your college dorm room look more at home.  Consider some of these tips and your dorm room will look great in no time.  Make everyone jealous of how nice your dorm room is!

Whether you’re in a dorm room right now as you read this or you plan on getting into one soon, nothing is better than having a microwave in your dorm room.  The $100 or so you spend on one will be the best investment you’ll make at college.  It’s a lot more convenient to make $2 hot pockets than it is to order a $10 pizza.  Let’s not forget that you’re going to have to pay a delivery fee.  We wrote a post earlier in the month that suggests the healthier college student microwaveable dinners.

If you’re looking to get a microwave for your dorm room, here the top three that myself and other college students like yourself recommend.  Even if you’re not a college student, these microwaves make great space savers because of the size and weight.

#1 — The Sharp R-216LS

The Sharp microwave was rated one of the best lightweight microwaves on the market.  Not only does it take up little space, it only weighs 24 pounds, which is very light for a microwave.  Besides the space issue, one of these microwaves are very reasonable and can be picked up for less than $100 and let’s not forget that this microwave is also stainless steel, which can prevent rusting and burning from nearby heats such as your stove.

#2 — Sharp R-410W

This microwave is little bit more expensive than the R-216LS because of the power.  The R-410W is 1100 watts compared to the R-216LS’s 800 watts.  This microwave weighs a little bit more at 37 pounds and isn’t stainless steel.  Instead, it’s an off-white color.  The main reasons students choose this microwave is because of more features.

#3 - Danby Designer

If you’re looking for a dorm microwave that isn’t designed by Sharp, you may want to look into the Danby Designer.  This microwave is the smallest out of the three and comes in at 20 pounds.  Like the Sharp R-410W, you can get it either in black or white.  The Danby Designer is also the smallest one out of the three, so if size is an issue, you may want to consider this microwave.
