When we graduate high school, many of us move right on to the college life.  We graduate in the summer, and then soon attend college in the fall.  College may seem a little intimidating at first, and a lot different from high school, but once you get into the rhythm of things, it’ll become more comfortable and a part of your regular routine.

When you first start getting ready for college, it may seem like there is so much to do, and it’s never ending.  You may have to get tested in each subject to see where you stand, you will want to check out the college campus for yourself, schedule for classes, and you may even need to apply for college scholarships still.  Although, before you even start with all these things, you must first attend the college orientation.

What is the college orientation?  What do you do there?  Do you have to even go?  These are all questions that you may have about it.  To get answers, continue reading below.

What is it for? – College orientations are to make you feel more comfortable with college.  They will have advisers to answer any questions you have, and they will tell you what you need to do in college, and go through your first day with you, and tell you what to expect.

What do you do there? – A college orientation is very important.  You will first sign in, and meet with the others that will be attending the college. You will get in a room, and have an instructor or an advisor tell you all about the college.  They will show you how to sign up for classes, and will go through any questions you may have.

Why is it important? – It is always good to feel comfortable with new surroundings.  One way to make this capable of happening is through an orientation.  You will learn everything you need to know, and is definitely important to go to.

Do you have to go? – According to most colleges, yes it is mandatory.  Even if you don’t want to go, you should.  Attend the orientation and become much more familiar with your new school.

Most college students don’t want to go to the college orientation, but it shouldn’t be thought of as a “chore”.  You will learn a lot, have all your questions answered, and you’ll be much more prepared for your first day of college.
