As a high school student, you’ve probably already realize how tough it really is to get ready for college. Even if you haven’t thought about college yet, I would recommend you read on to the next few tips just to get an idea of how college preparation really works. Getting ready for college isn’t a hard task, it’s only a hard task if you make it that way. As long as you’re organized and you have a set game plan, you can really make the process quite easy. I’m going to give you a few tips on how you can properly be organized for college –
Meet with the counselor – Your high school counselor can be your best friend throughout college. He/she will be able to tell you more about the colleges you’re wanting to attend and will give you advice on particular colleges you want to attend depending on what field you want to get into.
Take initiative – As you probably know by know, scholarships are the best way to save on money when you’re planning on jumping into the college boat. Make sure that you make plenty of copies of your transcripts and get more familiar with your qualifications. This way, you’ll know exactly what you’ll be eligible for when it comes to applying for a scholarship.
Finding scholarships – As mentioned in the last point, you’re going to want to treat finding scholarships as if it were your part time job. You’re going to want to set aside at least 10 to 20 hours per week to find those scholarships. Remember, this is as if you’re out to find free money. It will all add up in the end, trust me on this one.
Don’t be sloppy – When it comes to getting organized for college, make sure that you keep everything as organized as possible. This means keep your transcripts in a folder, label it, and make sure you know where everything is at all times, this will make it A LOT easier for you to know where things are. Another great word of advice is to make sure you keep applications and everything else seperate. Also, make sure you know your deadlines!
