When you take a shower in college, you’re going to find that it is a lot different than showering at home.  You’re more than likely going to have to share a bathroom with others, meaning that you’re not going to be able to store your stuff there.

Sure, if you want to leave your soaps and shampoos behind, you will find that there’s a good chance that they won’t be there tomorrow.

To make things easier, I would highly recommend that you get a shower caddy.  These caddies below are designed for college dorm rooms.  You can store everything in a portable bag and when you get to the shower, you can simply throw it up on the shower head and take what you need out.  This is going to make it a lot easier to shower.

The top 5 dorm room shower caddy sets

#1 Dorm room shower tote (around $6) - Made of waterproof nylon, has a durable strap, and a pop open design that allows you to put just about anything in there.  If you have nothing inside, you can simply pop it down for easy storage.

#2 Black mesh tote (around $15) - Fully waterproof and you can hang it right from the show.  It dries quick and has plenty of pockets for you to store a ton.  Even great for swimmers, travelers, and the gym.

#3 Kelly Green Mesh Tote (around $15) - This tote is green and made of fully waterproof material.  It dries fast, so that you don’t have to worry about mildew growing on it.

#4 Dorm Shower Caddy (around $6) - This is a simple caddy compared to the rest, but is easy enough for storage.  While there are no pockets, you will just throw everything into it.

#5 Shower Tub Dorm Caddy (around $20) - This is a little different from the rest.  Has 5 compartments to organizes, a rear soap compartment, as well as others for shampoo, etc.  Has a comfort grip with water drainage holes.

For under $10, you can pick up one that is going to be a savior in the shower.  Don’t bring your items in a bag anymore, or with anything else.  Get something that is waterproof that is going to be fairly easy to use!

Your dorm room isn’t going to be that big and since you’re going to want to save space, you’re probably looking for some chairs that won’t take up much space.

Since you’re not going to want to sit on your bed all day, these chairs are going to take up very little space and the cool thing about them is that they won’t break your budget.  You will find that most of the ones listed below are less than $50!

Listed below are 5 different types of chairs that you should consider when you want to purchase a chair for your college dorm.

#1 Sphere Chair (around $40): The sphere chair doesn’t take up a lot of space.  I have personally tried out one of these and they are very comfortable.  They fold up, where you can throw them under your bed, and you will also find that they are very wide.  They come in many colors to choose from.

#2 Butterfly Chair (around $30): This chair sits a little higher but can fold up and can be stored easily.  This one tends to be a little softer than your typical chair, as it has a lot of padding.

#3 Microfiber Oval Chair (around $150): Now, if you want to spend some serious cash, you’re going to love this chair!  Holds up to 250 pounds, has a solid, steel frame, and has a removable cushion for easy storage.

#4 Inflatable Chair by JetCreations (around $25): Sure, it’s inflatable and while you wouldn’t want this in your future home, it’s college!  You can get away with it.  Generally, with inflatable furniture, you probably think of junk, but with this one, you’re going to find that it is quite comfortable.  Anytime you want to sit, just bring out the pump, and pump it up!

#5 Dish Chair from Mac At Home (around $30): The last chair is similar to the first two.  It has a small cushion, it’s easy to fold, and comes with many different colors.

You’re going to have a lot to choose from.  As you can see, there are many different sizes that you can go after.  Pick a color, get something that is easy to store, and enjoy your new chair!

Before you set out and purchase a bed for your dorm, there are a few things that you should consider, before you make a purchase.  There are a lot of things that you need to know about before making that big purchase.

While loft beds can be a little pricey (around $500), there are some ways to save money on them and pay next to nothing.

Take a tour of your dorm room

Many dorm rooms today already have ma tress box springs set up.  While it doesn’t include the mattress, you will be able to put your mattress inside of the box.  Many dorms have them, so be sure to ask about this situation, as you wouldn’t want to bring a bed that you can’t use.

Consider skipping out on the loft bed

You really don’t need a loft bed, unless you want to sit high off the ground.  If you’re on a budget, you will find that you can simply be a “college student” and throw your mattress on the ground.  This is college remember and no one is going to judge you!

Think about building one

Building a loft bed really isn’t that hard!  You will find that there are some cool guides online that you can use.  If you just have the simplest handy man skills, you will find that you can build one from scratch rather easily.  You can find some plans here.

Consider purchasing one

A good loft bed is going to cost you $300+.  While you will get your monies worth, you’re going to find that it may be your best bet if you want something that is great with space and is going to work great in your dorm.

There’s going to come a time where you’re going to have to print papers for a report, an essay, or even for fun.  No matter what it is, you’re going to find that you’re going to have to print at college.  So what can you do and what are your options?

If you’re going to purchase – get a laser printer

A laser printer is a little bulkier than your typical printer, but the cool thing about these laser printers is that they will print via a toner, rather than an ink cartridge.  They are going to last years longer and the cool thing is that a laser printer is going to print a lot faster than your typical inkjet printer.

Top 3 Laser Printers to Consider:

Brother HL-2140 Personal Printer (around $70) – Very good price and it doesn’t take up a lot of space.  Has great reviews online and should get the job done.  Can print up to 23 pages per minute.

Samsung Monochrome Laser (around $50) – Prints 1200 x 600 DPI and takes up very little space.  It prints quality, it has a very modern look and doesn’t take up a lot of energy.

HP LaserJet PRO (around $130) – A little on the pricey side, but you’re going to get a lot of out this printer.  Fits up to 150 sheets, has a high speed 2.0 USB port, as well as wireless capabilities.

Print for free at your library

All colleges are different, but some libraries will allow you to print for free from the computers in there.  While some will probably charge you to make copies, you will more than likely have to hand them a student ID to ensure that you’re a student there.

Borrow a friend’s printer

While it’s best to get a printer, you will find that you won’t have to print all that often.  Instead, you may want to consider just borrowing a friends printer to print a few things.  Just don’t overdo your welcome here.

When looking for a college printer, there are a few things that I would consider when making the purchase.

  • The size
  • How many pages a minute?  You want speed.
  • Wireless capabilities.  This will save on wires.
  • Price tag.  Hey, you’re a college student – save money.

When you arrive at your dorm room for the first time, you’re going to find that it is rather boring.  You’re going to feel as if you’re in a jail cell with concrete blocks surrounding you.

What makes me laugh is that you’re paying $10,000+ a year for this dump.  While I don’t blame many for getting apartments in the surrounding area, some students don’t have a choice, but to stay here.

To make your dorm room feel like a home, there are some things that you can do.  While it’s going to require a few items, one of the things that can make it feel more like a home is a dorm room.

Since there are so many rugs out there, here are a few things that you should know about them before you set out and make a purchase.

What kind of rug do you want?

There are a few types of rugs that you can choose from.  Listed below are a few types and styles that you can select:

  • Area rugs
  • Runner rugs
  • Hand Tufted
  • Machine Made
  • Braided

Most students would probably pick an area rug, as this rug is going to take up good portion of your room.  A runner rug is more like a rug for the hallway, while the other three are just a personal choice.

The design

There are many types that you can choose from, but the most important thing is the design.  You’re going to want to look into the design of your rug.  Look at the overall feel of your dorm room.  From there, you’re going to want to get a rug that is going to match the design.  If you’re going to have a black room, don’t get a pink rug.

The size

It helps to measure the size of your room, sot hat you know what kind of rug that is going to fit.  You don’t want to get something too big, nor do you want to get something that is too large.  Measure out the area where you want the rug and go from there.

The top dorm rugs that you can choose from…

More rugs can be found here.

The price tag is going to vary.  The more you spend, the more you’re going to get in terms of quality.  A dorm rug is a great way to make your dorm look a lot better.  Consider a few above and see which one looks the best for you!
