When going to college, you’re going to find that you may get lazy here and there, and that’s fine.  We all do regardless of what age you are.  This is where campusfood.com comes into play.  If you haven’t heard of the site, you’re going to soon find out that it’s one of the best places to go, when you’re looking to have food delivered straight to your dorm room.

Here’s how it works…

You’ll head to the main site, input your state, as well as what campus you’re attending.  After you have done that, it should take you to the restaurants that you can order from.   You can browse the menu, and place the order right on their website.

Now, if you’re looking for coupons, here’s how you can do it…

  • #1 Follow the social networking accounts: They have 2 accounts where you can get discounts and coupons on a weekly basis.  I’ve found that by following the Facebook account that you’re going to get a lot more out of that compared to the Twitter account.  I would follow them both though.  They are free and can help you save!
  • #2 Search the web: Search some of your favorite coupon sites such as RetailMeNot.com, or even smaller blog such as MyCCFinder, and others.  If you want, you can even do a recent results search on Google, and find the most recent coupons up to date that have been posted online.  This is a great way to find deals, offers, and promotions.
  • #3 Sign up on the site: If you don’t already have an account, I would recommend that you sign up.  By doing so, you can tell them where you live, and how they can contact you.  If you don’t sign up, they don’t know about you!  It’s free to join, and you’ll get coupons and deals right away.  They also have a specials / coupons that you can check out on the site as well.

I like the CampusFood site and it’s a great way to get your food delivered straight to your door.   If you can drive to your favorite food joint, I would recommend it, but regardless, I would make sure that you set a few bucks aside for the tip, as well as the food fee.

Before we start though, I wanted to recommend our online college search tool.  This tool is only built for those looking for online educations, and won’t help you with an actual offline university.  It’s worth looking at though!

How can I determine if my college is one of the best?

US NEWS Reviews - The first thing that I would recommend is by looking at the US News reports.  What you’re going to find out is that you can get more information that you can handle.  The list up above came from the data that we collected on their website.    Since your college may be on the list, it doesn’t hurt to check out to see what they have stated about them.

College Reviews - If you want an unbiased reviews, check out a site called StudentsReview.  It’s by far one of the largest sites online that will showcase what other students are saying about their college.  Get information on the education quality, social life, activities, and more.

Going to college is a big choice, and when you’re ready to start attending, don’t just go with the best, go with what suits your career path in life.  By doing so, you will hopefully be able to find something that’s best for you!

The Summer is fast upon us and we all know that this season is the busiest season for students to find work.  For starters, don’t let the news and media scare you!  You’re going to find that there are plenty of jobs out there that you can take advantage of as a college student.

Upon my research, I have found that the people on unemployment complaining about not finding work are either the ones that are over-qualified for jobs, those that expect $30/hr when they have no education, or those that are just not trying.  Unless you fall into these groups, you’re not going to have a problem finding a job at all!

If you’re looking for some great college student job ideas, I wanted to give you some pointers on what paths you should look after.

  • Painters: You’ve seen the signs on the side of the road most likely, but painter contractors are usually the busiest in the spring.  Call up some painting companies, or if you wish, I would look for some job postings online.
  • UPS / Fed Ex: Places like UPS and Fed Ex are always looking for package handlers.  The job can be a  lot of work, but the pay is good, and hey, they may even pay for some of your college education!
  • Fast food: Fast food is always hiring and you don’t necessarily need to tell them that you’re doing it for the summer, but rather see who’s hiring in your area.  If you want to be honest, let the manager know and see what they can do for you.
  • Retail: Just like fast food, I would recommend that you check out hourly rate search engines such as SnagAJob.  It’s an amazing search tool that you can use in order to find the job that you need.
  • Telemarketing: Another job that many people don’t want to do, but what you’re going to find out is that a company like this is usually pretty desperate for help.  You can get a nice hourly rate plus bonuses, which is usually nice.
  • Temp help: If you have a temporary help shop around you, call them up, or see what they have.  You will most likely get some day laborer based jobs, but it will bring in some extra money.
  • Ask your college: If you live on campus, or even if you commute there, head on down to the career office, and see what they can do for you.  You could land a job that’s in the cafeteria, or the bookstore, etc.  The great thing about this is that you can get paid in terms of college credit, as well as money.    Many may find that nursing could be a hot career.    Nursing students should remember that if they get a job or internship at a hospital, they need to purchase a student nurse liability insurance plan, to protect themselves against the consequences of a medical error
  • Tutoring: If you excel in subject, consider looking on Craigslist for people that want help, or even offer the services yourself.  Parents die for a tutor, and you can charge as much as $20-30/hour!

On most of these jobs, I had the focus of getting them during the summer.  While you can get these during your college season, it’s always best to try to get into a field that somewhat relates to your study.  If you can’t, it’s not the end of the world, but always helps!

best blenders on marketWe all know that your dorm room isn’t going to have a lot of room, and as part of our dorm room checklist, I try to provide every little thing that you will need from drying racks, all the way to dorm room microwaves.

A blender is great when you’re looking to mix up a smoothie, or maybe you want to mix up a protein shake before you go out and work out. Regardless, they shouldn’t cost more than $50, and many of you students will find that they will be a great value / investment.

  • Cuisinart CSB-76 Smart Stick: This hand blender had one of the highest reviews on most merchant sites. Sure, it isn’t your typical blender, but many people love it solely based on it’s size, durability, and its ease of use.
  • Hamilton Bach 54615 Wavestation: This blender is one of my personal favorites. Not only will it only cost you $15, or so, you’re going to find that it has a very cool wave-action system that forces mixture down into the blades for smooth results.
  • Hamilton Beach 51101B Single-Serve: This blender is more likely to suit a student’s need. It’s going to serve single servings and includes a travel lid that lets you drink straight from the jar. It fits in most drink holders, and you’re going to find out that it’s great for smoothies, icy drinks, shakes, and more!
  • Oster BPST02-B: The Oster brand is a very well known brand when it comes down to smoothie machines, and blenders. This particular model comes equipped with a 3 year warranty, and made of a die cast base that is meant to last for years.
  • KitchenAid 5-Speed Blenders: KitchenAid seems to be a fairly popular brand among people shopping for one. This blender is made of die-cast metal, it’s safe in the dishwasher, and the coolest thing that I like is that it comes equipped with a “crush ice” button.
  • KitchenAid KHB300: The last one on the list is again, a hand blender. Not only are you going to get the blender with this package, you’re going to get a 4-cup mixing beaker, as well as a snap-lock lid for storing foods. You can also exchange the blender with a wire whisk, and nut chopper attachments.

I wouldn’t say you need a blender for your dorm, but it’s nice to have, because you can always take it along with you in the future as well. It’s only going to set you back a few dollars and you can find many uses for it, rather than mixing up a smoothie!

When in college, our lives are pretty hectic.  We’re trying to get as close to a 4.o GPA as we can, keep up with our homework, our social life and get in as many hours at work as possible.  If you’re having a hard time organizing you’re life, you’re not alone.  Many college students don’t get good grades due to things like an unorganized schedule.  To make your life much easier and organized, consider a few of our tips below!

Certain days:  First of all, you must make certain days for certain things.  Create a schedule that is like this:  class Monday and Wednesday, work Friday and Sunday and study Tuesday and Thursday.  This will help you focus on only one thing that day and will help you be much more productive.  When you work, go to school and hang out with friends all in the same day, you’re life is too crazy.

Priorities:  Make sure you set priorities for yourself.  These should be sleep, school, homework, work and a healthy lifestyle at the top of your list.  At the bottom should be partying, hanging out with friends and going out.  Only allow yourself the reward of going out with your friends if your homework is done and you’re caught up in your classes.

Lifestyle:  You need to have a healthy lifestyle to do good in college.  This means avoid only getting 5 hours of sleep, partying before an exam and skipping class.  Eat a healthy and well balanced diet, get some exercise and take some time for yourself.

Clean up:  Do a quick clean up in your dorm room or room at home.  Get rid of junk you don’t need, old school papers and organize your room so that you’re able to find everything you’re looking for.

Classes:  Make sure you organize your classes as well.  Get folders for each class and avoid shoving papers in your books.  Throw out old papers and make sure you keep track of all the papers that will help you study for your exams later on.

Keeping yourself organized in college is very important.  You will have a much more relaxed, organized and easy schedule if you make it that way and set your priorities straight.  So, consider a few of these tips and start getting your life back together!
