College is only hard if you make it hard, and if you’re worried about doing bad, or not passing any of your classes, you don’t have to worry about a thing if you follow these 4 steps.

Study:
The biggest problem former high school students have when they reach college is learning how to study properly. As many high school students never learn how to effectively manage their study material or never find a need for it, they are completely unprepared for the college life of tests, finals, and reports. The best advice you can give a new college student is to spend time alone or with others on the campus finding the ways in which they learn best, whether it is with an MP3 player in the quad, or in the cafeteria with chattering providing the ambiance. The key here is simply to find a way to help you retain the information you need to succeed in your classes.

Be On Time:
Never show up late to your classes or you risk not only embarrassing yourself in front of your peers and professor, but also missing out on very important information about tests, assignments, etc. The early bird is always the one who catches the worm, and, in college, the bookworm who is prompt and on time will beat all of the other birds in the race for excellence.

Do Your Assignments:
Students who fail to complete their assignments or cheat by copying others are only cheating themselves out of a valuable education. The assignments are designed to help the students understand the material and prepare them for the upcoming tests. By not doing the assignments yourself, you put yourself at a disadvantage and risk ruining your chances on the next test.

Work Hard:
College is about expanding your horizons and pushing yourself to be better. Anyone who believes they can breeze through college without effort will not survive the process. It is a full time job and needs to be treated like one. You wouldn’t expect a raise at a job if you never did anything productive, would you? The same applies to college.”

While all drunk people are not alike, they certainly have some things in common.  What they need after a hard night of drinking tends to be pretty similar across the board.  When you hear the door open and your roommate’s raucous laughter and dirty jokes ringing in the hall, check to see that you have the following nearby:

  • A glass of water – for supervised sipping;
  • A large bowl (or easy access to a toilet) – in case they are drunk enough to hurl;
  • A damp cloth – for wiping down their face after they throw up;
  • A bottle of aspirin or other painkiller – to leave by their bed for the next morning’s headache.

Stay calm and see the humor

Drunk people are not all fun and games; they can quickly get on your nerves with their newfound slowness and one-track minds.  The best thing to do is to keep your voice and temper even, and to find the humor in the situation.  Go ahead, snicker at their horrible one-liners.  You can always tease them in the morning.

Walk away if it’s too much

Unless you sent them off to that party or made a back-scratching pact, you have no obligation to care for your roommate in his or her state.  If it gets to be too much, just tell them you’re leaving and peace out.

Try to be sympathetic

Hangovers are no fun, and neither are the headaches that go with them.  Barring any major grudges you carry against them, you should have no reason to blast your music as your roommate stumbles out of bed.  Just follow the Golden Rule – to for them what you want them to do next time you come home drunk.

Choosing your college major is a tough task, but when you get some tips, and pointers, it makes the process just a tad easier.  Here are some tips that you can use in order to find the college major that best suits you.

Decide on the job you want to have

The major you choose for college should be based on the job you would like to have.  For example, if you’d like to own your own business someday, do not major in history even if it interests you.  Think about the lifestyle you would like to enjoy.

Ask yourself three questions…

1.  After I graduate, how do I want to spend my time? Do I want very little downtime outside of work, or do I want work to fit into specified hours of the day so that I’m free the rest of the time to enjoy other things?

2.  Do you want to live a life of many luxuries and a lot of time spent working, or do you want a simpler life and family?

3.  Is there a specific topic or industry I would like to work in?

Discover on the education requirement to get the job you want

Each position will require a mixture of qualifications and experience.  Some qualifications come with a degree, but many do not.  Some jobs will require graduate school, and some simply want you to have gained sufficient experience.  Decide if you are willing to put in the time earning qualifications to get the job you want.

Decide if you are willing to spend the money to earn the education you need

If you are not fortunate enough to have your school paid for by patrons, parents, or scholarships, you must decide how much debt and time you are willing to put into finding a job.  Education costs a lot of money, and often a student mortgages their future to gain the diploma. Make sure that the job you are going after will allow you to pay back your loans in your current situation.  Remember, there will be taxes involved and even $70,000 can go quickly.

As you can see by the pictures above, you can do a lot with your dorm room.  It’s also going to depend all on your dorm room size as well.  You’ll always want to get a dorm room size, before you start planning.  Another rule of thumb as well is to make sure that you that you always talk with your roommate when you want to make alterations.

Everyone needs, to sleep, right?  When you’re ready to move into your dorm room, or maybe you’re already there, you’re probably going to need to get some need bedsheets, or maybe you want to upgrade?

Dorm bedding is essential if you want to keep warm at night.  Not only that, it’s going to make your bed look a whole lot better than what it probably is today, I can promise you that much.

Measure your bed - The first thing that you’re going to want to do is measure your bed at the school.  If you don’t know the size, most colleges already have built in bed, and you can call them up to ask for the dimensions.  Since all of them can vary in size, you’ll probably want to get a sheet size that comes fairly close to what will fit on your bed.  You don’t want to get something too big, or too small.

Pick a style - You’re going to find that if you head to a local store to find your bedding, it’s going to be relatively expensive.  Instead, I encourage you that you do your shopping online.  You can get some great bedding sets that includes things such as your comforter, sheet set, mattress pad, towels, and so much more for less than $100!

Know it’s comfort - You don’t want to be too cheap, because you’re going to get what you pay for.  If you’re going to purchase your sheets online, what you’re going to want to look for is the “thread count” number.  The higher the number is, the better the quality if going to be, and the more you’re likely going to pay.  Your luxury hotels generally have a 500+ thread count, if you want a good idea on what matches up to what.

Be sure to order your sheets before you move into your dorm, so that you have something to sleep on.  Even if the college offers you something, I would steer clear of it, because it’s going to be like you’re sleeping on a thin cheap dollar store brand bed spread.  Get out there, do some comparison shopping, and find your sheets!
