The SAT is always allowing you to take tests, but how the heck do you know when it’s time to take it, and how can you sign up?  The process is fairly simple, and it only takes a few minutes of your time.

#1 – Register: The first thing that you’re going to want to do before taking the SAT is to make sure that you register.  If you register too late, you’re going to have to pay late fees.  The registration deadlines are as follows for 2009 – 2010.

The dates for 2009 to 2010 are as follows.   Next to the test date will be when you have to register by to avoid the late fees.

  • January 23, 2010 (SAT and Subject Tests):  Register by 12/23/09.
  • March 13, 2010 (SAT only):  Register by February 4,2010.
  • May 1, 2010 (SAT and Subject Tests): Register by March 25, 2010
  • June 5, 2010 (Sat and Subject Tests):  Register by April 29,2010

These dates are going to change year, after year, so make sure that you look for a new schedule for the 2nd half of 2010.

If you’re unfamiliar with the SAT tests, and the process, I wrote a few posts in the past that can help you.  Also, if you’re prepping for the test, there’s a huge list of self help books online that can help you tremendously!

If you need fee information, and more up to date SAT test dates, refer to CollegeBoard for more information.

best netbooks in 2010The experts are stating that the “Netbook” fad is going to go away, and it’s going away fast, but I just don’t see it.  Netbooks are great to carry around, easy to use, and they cost next to nothing, and you’re going to get everything you have in a laptop, and computer!

I did some research online, and since 2010 is a little early yet, I wanted to show you which Netbooks you should consider, when looking for one this year.

ASUS Eee PC: This netbook will set you back around $350.  This isn’t bad for a netbook prices, and it has rave reviews online.  Up to 10.5 hours of battery life, 1.66GHz processor, as well as 1GB DDR2 of RAM.

Toshiba Mini NB205-N230: Comes equipped with a 10.1 inch screen, 9 hours of battery life, and can be yours for less than $350.  1.66 GHz, 1GB DDR2 Memory, and a 250 GB hard drive.

Acer AOD250-1197: One of the cheapest Netbooks on the market, but has some great reviews, so don’t let the price discourage you.  10.1 screen, 1.6GHz, 1024 DDR2 Ram, as well as 250GB hard drive.

Samsung NC10: This Samsung has rave reviews, and specs match up to many of their competitors, at a lower price.  1GB Ram, 1.6GHz, as well as a 160GB hard drive.

HP Mini 110-1125NR: Over 8 hours of battery life, 1 GB Ram, as well as 160 GB hard drive, makes it great for those that are looking for a lot of space, as well as power at the same time.

As a college student, we all know that finding things that are expensive for a cheap price is fairly rare, but if you know where to search, it’s going to increase your chances.  Since you’re going to need a laptop for college, in order to make college a lot easier, I wanted to show you a few places that you should check out if you’re looking for cheap laptops for sale.

Amazon: A lot of people skip over Amazon, but they work with hundreds of merchants online that offer low, low prices.  The cool thing about Amazon is that you can search for a particular brand that you want, and you can search their marketplace.  Within the marketplace, you can find very cheap laptops that people are offering, kind of like eBay.  By doing this, you can easily save 55-70%.

eBay: Everyone knows this household name, but you can get some really good deals on this site.  When you’re looking for a laptop, make sure that you’re buying from a reputable seller, and always make sure that you read the description thoroughly.  You don’t want to purchase the laptop, and find out that it’s not working down the road.

NewEgg: NewEgg, one of the Internet’s leading retailer when it comes to electronics will have a “notebook of the day”, or “notebook of the week.”  Check out what they have for the day, because I’ve found times, where I could save over $400 on a very nice laptop.  They have just about every brand imaginable, and you can land yourself a cheap laptop for less than $300.

When it comes down to purchasing a cheap laptop, make sure that you consider purchasing from a major retailer.  This way, you know what you’re getting yourself into, and you’re not going to get ripped off.  Places like Craigslist, and others are a hotbed for scammers, so make sure that you watch what you’re doing before making a deal.

best bed risersBed risers are a great way to raise your bed in your dorm room, or even in your bedroom right now, giving you instant extra storage space.  If you think your bed is sitting too low to the ground, these little pieces can help raise your bed off the ground, making your bed sit a little higher than what it was before, and giving you even more storage power!

Here are the top 4 bed risers that I recommend, when it comes to raising any type of bed, whether it be a twin, or even a queen.

  • Kennedy Home Collection: One of the best rated risers on Amazon.  It can support up to 1,200 pounds, making it very durable.  It also creates instant storage underneath your bed, and makes your bed 6 inches high.
  • Wood Bed Risers – Honey Oak: If you have an oak based bed set, these are risers to get.  Very easy to install, and you can raise your bed within minutes.
  • Bed / Table Risers: If you’re looking to raise your bed, and your table at the same time, these are the risers to get.  They cost less than $15, and can raise just about anything in the house that has legs!
  • Clear Bed Risers: Bed risers can be ugly, when it comes to color, and if you want something that’s going to be clear, and not really noticeable, consider getting these clear based risers.

Dorm rooms, and many bedrooms don’t have that much storage space, and what you’re going to find out is that you’re going to have to have more storage, and that’s where these little $10 pieces come in.  You’re going to sit a little higher on your bed, but you’re also going to give yourself a whole another closet, making it great for you, and any other belongings you may have.
